Mocean Dance presented its immersive performance "Sea Unseen" at the Halifax Central Library as part of Ocean Week Canada 2026, marking the final show of their season. The production explores the hidden issue of ocean plastic pollution on Sable Island through a collaborative effort involving dance, music, storytelling, and real plastic materials collected from the island's shores. Co-artistic director Susanne Chui and dancer Francine Dulong emphasize that the project aims to raise public awareness and foster connection to environmental issues through art rather than direct activism. Created in partnership with Sable Island researchers and Mi’kmaq ecologists, the piece seeks to inspire reflection and change regarding climate justice and marine conservation.
